Three QC Gates: Why We'd Rather Remake Than Apologize

What leaves our factory isn't finished when it leaves the line. It's finished when it passes QC.

Every tournament piece goes through three gates before it gets near a box. First, the weight gate: every piece on the scale — a knight that doesn't weigh like its brothers doesn't ship. Second, the base gate: every base checked on a flat plate, because a rocking piece loses blitz games. Third, the finish gate: felt pulled by hand, edges checked, polish read under light.

Rejects go back, not through. That's the unglamorous half of "tournament-grade": not the design, the refusal to ship the almost-good-enough.

25 years of making nothing but chess equipment. We'd rather remake than apologize.
